1. How to Save Money When You Don’t Have Any
This is the easy one—just click here to access the report! << That link will open as a PDF in your internet browser. You can either read it directly in your browser or download it.
2. The Money Tracker
This page contains three access options for the Money Tracker. You can either read about them all, or scroll directly to the one that interests you:
- The Original Money Tracker (free)—suitable for desktop or laptop computers
- The Google Docs Money Tracker (free)—it’s ideally used on a desktop or laptop computer (due to the larger screen size), however, you can also use it through your web browser on your tablet or smart phone. If your only option is a tablet or smart phone, I recommend the tablet (due to the larger screen size).
- The paperback Money Tracker Classic (can’t be free due to printing costs and all that, so sorry!)—suitable for anyone who does not have an electronic device capable of running the Original or Google Docs Money Tracker
Lastly, if you cannot use the digital versions, and money is too tight to purchase the paperback version, don’t despair. Please read “Important point #5” under the sub-headline “The Paper Money Tracker Classic” for a free solution that works perfectly well with the system I teach in the book.

The ORIGINAL Money Tracker (FREE)
Now I know you’re an eager beaver who’s dying to get your hands on this thing ?
And I don’t blame you. Because the Money Tracker is a wickedly good tool that I use myself. Not that I’m biased or anything… 😉
But see, I want this thing to work for you, so before you download it, there are a few details you need to be aware of.
Devices That the Money Tracker WILL Work On:
The ORIGINAL Money Tracker was designed for use on devices that support Libre Office or Microsoft Excel.
- Your desktop computer
- Your laptop
Devices That The ORIGINAL Money Tracker Does NOT Work On:
- Smart Phones
- Tablets (for example, iPads)
- Kindles
Required Software
The ORIGINAL Money Tracker will work perfectly if you use Libre Office, a free open-source software package that you can download at https://www.libreoffice.org/. There are versions available for both Mac and PC. Or, if you prefer, you can try opening the Money Tracker with Microsoft Excel—this should work too.
If you want to use the Money Tracker on your phone, Kindle, or tablet, I don’t know how to do that, or if it’s even possible. If you’re a computer whiz, maybe you can make it work on those devices, but I’m not, so, I’m afraid you’re on your own if you want to use it on anything other than a desktop computer or laptop. Sorry!
And whatever you do, don’t do anything crazy like changing it when you save it from a .xls file (as it is currently) to a .xlt or .xml or .ods file. That might break the Money Tracker and you’d have to download a shiny new copy and start from scratch.
Required Reading
Don’t worry if you don’t completely understand how to use all of the features in the Money Tracker just yet—it is all explained in the book. So just download it for now, then read the book to get complete instructions for its use. Makes sense? 😃
Then go ahead and download the Money Tracker here.
If you can’t see the download on your computer please do the following:
- Take a look in your downloads folder and look for a file named Money-Tracker-Free-Download1.xls. If it’s not there, move on to steps 2 and 3, listed below.
- Check if you have any pop-up blockers enabled that could be blocking the download window from showing up (please Google how to check this for whatever browser you’re using). You may have to temporarily disable your pop up blocker to download the Money Tracker.
- Check if your browser isn’t set to automatically block downloads from new websites (please Google how to check this for whatever browser you’re using). You may have to temporarily disable this feature to download the Money Tracker.
If the above troubleshooting steps don’t work and you still can’t download the Money Tracker then it’s clear that you’re cursed. Just kidding. Drop me an e-mail via my contact form and I promise to get back to you as soon as I can!
And please remember…
*** If you want to use the ORIGINAL Money Tracker, and are viewing this page on your Smart Phone, Tablet, or Kindle, you should either (i) STOP 🛑 what you’re doing right now and come back to this page once you are on your desktop or laptop computer…. or, (ii) keep reading to see how to access either the Google Docs or Paperback Money Tracker (which are better options for you if you don’t own a computer or laptop). The ORIGINAL Money Tracker download above will only work properly if you are on a desktop or laptop computer.
The GOOGLE DOCS Money Tracker (FREE)
*** YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO GOOGLE DOCS IN ORDER FOR THE LINK BELOW TO WORK PROPERLY***
I received an email from a savvy reader who suggested creating a version of the Money Tracker for Google Docs.
I hesitated to do this for years because back then I didn’t use Google Docs… but finally I came to my senses and figured what the heck… it’s a good idea. So it’s now live and ready for you to take a look at, if you want.
For most people, I still recommend the .xls spreadsheet version above since it’s difficult for users to break by accident.
My second choice would be to use the paperback workbook version below (because it can’t break either!)…
However, if you’re comfortable with manipulating data and troubleshooting in a spreadsheet, the new Google Docs version is worth a look. ** REMEMBER, YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO GOOGLE DOCS IF YOU WANT TO ACCESS THE MONEY TRACKER THERE. 😃
Don’t worry if you don’t completely understand how to use all of the features in the Google Docs Money Tracker just yet—it is all explained in the book. So just make a copy of it in your Google Drive, then read the book to get complete instructions for its use. (The book will refer to Excel and Open Office (or Libre Office)… but the Google Docs version works the same.)
The PAPERBACK Money Tracker Classic WORKBOOK
The 8.5″ x 11″ Money Tracker Classic paperback duplicates the spreadsheet version in 155 glorious color pages of money tracking heaven (that’ll last you 12 months!).
Please forgive the use of “glorious” in reference to budgeting… but tracking your money properly could change your financial life forever, and – confession time—this is my attempt to get you excited about giving it a good try. 😃
Important point #1
The Original Money Tracker—the automated spreadsheet that I’ve been providing to readers like you since How to Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck was first published—is still FREE, and I have NO plans to change that.
However, I created this new paperback version because I’ve had several readers say they don’t own a computer or laptop, therefore the free, digital Original Money Tracker isn’t an option for them. This paperback will solve that problem.
Important point #2
re: the price
Unfortunately, the paperback version (the Money Tracker Classic) CAN’T be free because printing has a cost (color printing doesn’t come cheap!), and by the time that’s paid for and Amazon takes their cut of the purchase price, the bare bones production cost is already more than the selling price of any of my other books. I’m really sorry about that, but those two factors are responsible for the overwhelming majority of the selling price for this product, and I can’t change them. On the bright side, if you average the cost out over the 12 months you’ll be using it, it works out to about the cost of a cup of coffee per month.
Important point #3
This is for you if…
1. Spreadsheets aren’t your thing, and you’d prefer to go “old-school”, tracking your money on paper. The paperback Money Tracker Classic was designed for use with How to Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck, and is the easiest way to duplicate the process without using a spreadsheet.
2. You do not own a computer or laptop, therefore cannot use the spreadsheet format, but don’t want to create your own version on paper.
Important point #4
You can get it on Amazon. Click here to check it out. It’s the easiest way to do what the Original Money Tracker does without a computer or laptop.
Important point #5
If you are one of those people who cannot use the digital version because you don’t have a computer/laptop AND you cannot afford to purchase the paperback version, please do NOT give up.
You can still do everything discussed in the book—the main difference is that you’ll have to set up your own version of the Money Tracker in a notebook—or use looseleaf paper that you keep in a folder somewhere. It’s not as easy as having it all laid out like the paperback Money Tracker Classic, but it’s still doable—I know this because that’s how I tracked my money for YEARS. 🙂
In any case, if you’re one of those people who were hoping for a paperback Money Tracker, I hope you love this solution!
